The KD team always intended on packaging our first run miniatures in some thoughtful handmade way. However, packaging designers we are not! We agonized for a long time about the size, color, materials. clam-shells, treasure chests, blister packs, clear, frosted, opaque etc.
We finally regrouped after dizzying weeks of indecision and decided that we would try for simple and polished. Inspired by modern packaging spotted at the moma design store we bring you Kingdom Death Packaging, in agonizing detail.
We chose a rigid kraft paper wrapped box [6" x 4.5" x 2"] because it's nice, embosses well, and reuseable for miniature/bits storage in the future.
We had a custom stamp made with the Kingdom Death text logo and each box top is hand embossed by the KD team with glossy black, white, or the super rare silver logo. Here is a preview from the KD packaging images we uploaded today chronicling the embossing process we learned to use. We are so excited about this stuff it will probably bore you to tears.
Inside each limited edition box is a 4" x 6" print of the White Speaker concept art on "ultra premium" high quality matte photo paper.
The print is wrapped with a pretty paper vellum ribbon on which we are including the number out of 100 for each mini and our hand signed thanks for purchasing.
The mini is wrapped on the sprue nestled in this fluffy white poly padding stuff which fills the rest of the box.
So that's it. We are printing shipping labels furiously and applying lots of tape. Catch it at a mailbox near you soon.
